H.r. 1586
Jul 28, 2010 - 4:02 PM - by ontarff
ontarff's Avatar I hope all of you have contacted your elected representatives to support the pending legislation for the FAA Reauthorization Act - H.R. 1586. Particularly, Sec. 311. Click on "Full Text" and read Sec.311.

This change would update FAR Part 139 to use national concensus standards (NFPA). If you haven't, get on the ball. It's us against the AAAE lobbyists. If you care, here is the link to monitor the progress of this important ARFF legislation. Take action!

Canadian F-18 Crash
Jul 27, 2010 - 4:10 PM - by ARFFway
ARFFway's Avatar CF-18 Crash at Lethbridge Alberta during a high alpha low speed demonstration practice pass.

Pilot sustained 3 spinal compression fractures but should make a full recovery. He's a big Fan of Martin Baker for sure.

Here's an incredible sequence of photos of the crash. Looks like a right engine failure at first blush. Right VEN closed right down, Left one wide open then spewing flame in full burner as it sucks up fuel from the tanks rupturing on impact.

Thanks to Martin Baker and excellent training we get to keep this... [Read More]
